Nikki- I have not read The Girl with a Pearl Earring, but I did go to the Mauritshuis museum in The Hague and see the actual original painting of it. It was gorgeous.
Oh, WOW, Torrey! You got to see it in person! The book was pretty out there, IMHO, but I so enjoy Vermeer's work. I kind of treat his paintings like a treasure hunt, trying to spot furniture and props from his other paintings. And the light, the light is them is superb.
